Download the USGS topo for your area — fast, resumable — and optionally bundle the legal-route and land-ownership overlays into the download. An offline-readiness checklist confirms you're set before you leave signal.

Know whose land you're on

A land-ownership layer (BLM · USFS · NPS · state · tribal — uncolored means private) answers "can I camp here?", and USFS MVUM + BLM legal-route overlays answer "can I drive this?" — the data other apps charge a subscription for, free and usable offline. Always verify current closures and local rules.
